Association founded for Taiwan-Israel technology exchanges

Taipei, Aug. 13 (CNA) A nongovernmental association aimed at promoting bilateral exchanges between Taiwan and Israel in technology and innovation was established by Taiwanese in Tel Aviv Monday, according to a statement from the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST).

The Israel-Taiwan Innovation and Technology Association, the first Taiwanese association in Israel to boost exchanges in technology and investment in relevant industries, was founded by a group of Taiwanese students and entrepreneurs living in Israel.

In the first year, the association will focus on network maintenance, exchanges between start-ups in Taiwan and Israel for potential business opportunities, the collection and analysis of technology trends, and internships, association Chairwoman Hsieh Pei-shan (謝佩珊) said.

Hsieh, an executive in the sales department of Taiwan-based Pack Leader Machinery, was elected chairwoman at the association's first meeting, which was hosted by MOST tech advisor Wang Ting-an (汪庭安) and attended by Kuoboug Chang (張國葆), Taiwan's envoy to Israel.
