Taipei, March 22 (CNA) The service lines of Studio A, an Apple Inc. premium reseller in Taiwan, were jammed by more than 100 calls within one hour after it began taking orders Wednesday morning for the bright red edition of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
The introduction of a red iPhone attracted immense interest among Apple fans and prompted many calls about the details of the special edition iPhone, Studio A said.
On Tuesday, Apple announced on its website the launch of the special edition iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, its "most advanced iPhones ever," in a vibrant red aluminum finish.
Apple said the special edition was in recognition of more than 10 years of partnership with (RED), an organization that works to provides access to life-saving HIV/AIDS programs in sub-Saharan Africa, which is home to more than two thirds of the world's HIV-positive population.
Under the partnership with (RED), iconic global brands contribute up to 50 percent of their profits from (RED)-branded goods and services to the Global Fund to fight against AIDS.
"This gives customers an unprecedented way to contribute to the Global Fund and bring the world a step closer to an AIDS-free generation," Apple said.
It said 100 percent of all the money raised by (RED) goes directly to Global Fund HIV/AIDS grants that provide testing, counseling, treatment and prevention programs with a specific focus on eliminating transmission of the virus from mothers to their babies.
The special edition iPhone will be available for online ordering worldwide and in stores from March 24, in 128GB and 256 GB versions, according to Studio A.
