Taipei, Aug. 8 (CNA) Love is all that matters and love knows no boundaries, according to Tu Cheng-che (杜承哲), an attending physician at Cheng Ching Hospital in Taichung when relating a story about an Indonesian caregiver and her former Taiwanese employer to CNA Thursday.

According to Tu, an 43-year-old Indonesian caregiver in Taiwan was diagnosed with a lung adenocarcinoma but made a full recovery thanks to the love and care of her former employer.

The Indonesian woman discovered she had lung cancer following a health check up at the hospital's Cheng Kang Branch, while trying to find a new employer after her previous job ended when the grandma she took care of for nine years passed away, according to Tu.

All alone in Taiwan, the caregiver had no one to support her after being diagnosed with a 2.8-cm tumor in her lung, Tu said, adding that fortunately the tumor did not spread to her other organs.

Keen to find someone to help her, the hospital contacted her former employer, who rushed to take care of her at the hospital and helped cover her medical costs. The employer told Tu that the migrant caregiver "is a member of our family, and we beg you to give her the best treatment, whatever the cost."

Following an operation in July, the children of the grandma took turns to look after the Indonesian caregiver round the clock and she was discharged from the hospital five days later.

"We deeply appreciate her long-term efforts taking care of our grandma, and we don't want to see her go back to her country with a tumor," Tu quoted the grandma's family as saying.
