Taipei, March 13 (CNA) Certain road sections on Hehuanshan, one of Taiwan's highest mountains, are to be closed due to ice and snow, the highway authorities said Wednesday.

The Directorate General of Highways (DGH) said road closures on Provincial Highway 14-A from Tsuifeng at the 18-kilometer mark to Dayuling at the 41-km mark are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday until 7 a.m. the following day.

Depending on the weather and road conditions Thursday, a decision will be made to either allow normal traffic flow or require drivers to attach snow chains to their tires before they can proceed, the DGH said.

The DGH said the closures are for the safety of drivers and apologized for the inconvenience.
