Wind to affect Taiwan Monday

Taipei, Feb. 10 (CNA) Windy weather is forecast to affect Taiwan Monday, the first working day after the nine-day Lunar New Year holiday, keeping temperatures down, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said Sunday.

With the effect of the ongoing northeast monsoon system, temperatures are expected to fall to 17 degrees Celsius around Taiwan Monday night from daytime highs of 21 degrees in northern Taiwan, 27 degrees in central Taiwan and 29 degrees in the south, the CWB said.

The CWB said occasional rain can be expected around the country Sunday and Monday.

According to the CWB, foggy conditions are forecast for western Taiwan from Monday, in particular in the early morning and at night.

The CWB said the strength of the northeast monsoon system is expected to fade Tuesday, leading to daytime high temperatures of 25 degrees in northern Taiwan, 28 degrees in central Taiwan and 29 degrees in the south.
