Singapore police probing death of Taiwanese man

Singapore, Nov. 7 (CNA) Singaporean police are investigating the death of a Taiwanese man whose body was found near Clarke Quay on Tuesday, Taiwan's representative office in the city-state said Wednesday.

The man, identified as 53-year-old Hu Wen-kai (胡文凱), had been missing for five days before his heavily decomposed body was found in a drain on Eu Tong Sen Street near Clarke Quay.

According to Singaporean police, Hu was last seen at Swissotel Merchant Court hotel on Merchant Road at around 5:30 a.m. Nov. 1.

Taiwan's representative office in Singapore said it has contacted Hu's family in Taiwan and offered to assist them where necessary.
