Trainer aircraft goes missing near Xiaoliuqiu in Pingtung

Taipei, July 9 (CNA) A trainer aircraft belonging to the Taitung-based Apex Flight Academy has gone missing after it lost contact with the flight control tower Monday evening, the Aviation Safety Council (ASC) has said.

According to the academy, the plane carried two flight trainees and an instructor.

The plane went off the radar at 5 p.m. around Xiaoliuqiu, an island off Pingtung County, and efforts are currently underway to search for the missing plane, said ASC chief Kuan Wen-lin (官文霖).
