Sunny skies forecast to continue into Thursday

Taipei, March 13 (CNA) Due to the effect of warm southeasterly winds, sunny skies are expected to continue across Taiwan until daytime on Thursday before a weather front sets in that evening, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said Tuesday.

Temperature highs between Tuesday and Thursday are forecast to range from 28-29 degrees Celsius in northern Taiwan, and 30-31 degrees in central and southern parts of the country, the CWB said.

Forecaster Chen Yi-hsiu (陳伊秀) said sporadic showers are also possible in mountainous areas of eastern Taiwan on Tuesday.

Despite the warm weather, sharp fluctuations between daytime and nighttime temperatures are expected to continue, Chen said, adding that the mercury in northern and central Taiwan is expected to fall to 14-16 degrees at night, and drop to 17-20 degrees in eastern and southern areas.

The CWB said the public should be mindful of potentially foggy conditions in western Taiwan, urging caution in the face of low visibility on the roads.

According to the CWB, this weather pattern is expected to continue into Thursday ahead of an approaching weather system. The bureau urged people to keep warm at night.

Chen said the upcoming weather front is also forecast to bring rain on Friday with thunderstorms possible in western parts of the island.

On Saturday, the northeast monsoon is expected to affect Taiwan with the mercury forecast to fall to 20-21 degrees in northern areas and 27-28 degrees in central and southern Taiwan, according to the CWB.

A stable weather pattern is expected to return on Sunday with sunny skies expected, the bureau said.
