Kaohsiung, March 10 (CNA) Three workers were injured when the catalyst separator they were working on exploded at Talin Refinery Saturday evening, CPC Corp., Taiwan's Vice President Ann Bih (畢淑蒨) said.

The three are being treated for non-life threatening burns, she added.

The three contract maintenance workers suffered burns over 30-60 percent of their bodies, according to Kaohsiung City's Labor Affairs Bureau.

The latest explosion triggered a city government order to close the facility while an investigation into the cause is conducted.

CPC Corp. Chairman Tai Chien (戴謙) issued a public apology in late February for a series of work safety problems at the state oil refiner over the past year.

In August 2012, three people suffered burns during a gas explosion while doing maintenance work on equipment at the same refinery.
