Taipei, March 10 (CNA) Despite a strong continental cold air mass lingering, warmer weather is expected around Taiwan during the daytime Saturday as the sun shows up and moisture continues to decrease, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said.

In the early morning Saturday, temperatures of around 10 degrees Celsius were recorded in northern, northeastern and central Taiwan and 15 degrees in the rest of the country, CWB data showed.

The mercury was forecast to rise to 18-19 degrees during the daytime in northern and northeastern regions and 20-24 degrees in the rest of Taiwan, the bureau said.

However, between late Saturday and early Sunday morning, temperatures may again drop to 10-13 degrees in western Taiwan, it added.

As the cold air mass begins to weaken during the daytime Sunday, highs can be expected to rise above 20 degrees in northern Taiwan and reach 25-30 degrees in the central and southern regions, according to the CWB.
