Apps available to access services during Lunar New Year

Taipei, Feb. 12 (CNA) The government on Monday posted a list of telephone numbers and apps on its website through which people can access government agencies during the Lunar New Year holiday from Feb. 15 to 20.

The list covers hotlines and other ways to contact government agencies involved in medical care, caring for the underprivileged, home security and transportation in case of emergency or if real-time information is needed during the six-day period.

For instance, people who lose their ID card can call the Ministry of the Interior 1996 hotline and those who lose their passport can call the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Emergency Contact Center at 0800-085-095.

If a need for transportation from an outlying island arises, people can contact the Office of the Deputy Chief of the General Staff for Logistics under the Ministry of National Defense.

For real-time transportation information, people can use the Transportation Ministry's 1968 App or consult its website, which is updated around the clock.

Premier Lai Ching-te (賴清德) said in a weekly cabinet meeting last week that the government will closely monitor food supplies and wholesale product prices during the holiday period. He also asked the Ministry of Health and Welfare to stand by if any flu or other epidemic surfaces.
