Winter low of 13.3 degrees set early Wednesday morning

Taipei, Dec. 6 (CNA) Temperatures in Taiwan hit a new low for this winter season early Wednesday morning, falling to 13.3 degrees Celsius in Chiayi County, according to the Central Weather Bureau (CWB).

The winter low was recorded at 2:33 a.m. in the southern Taiwan county.

Daytime highs are expected to rise to 18 to 21 degrees in northern and eastern Taiwan and to 23 to 26 degrees in other parts of the country, CWB forecaster Wu Yi-fan (吳依帆) said.

Temperatures will rebound Thursday after the current wave of cold air weakens, but will fall again starting Friday due to the arrival of a stronger cold air mass that is likely to bring snow to high mountains over the weekend, Wu said.
