Taipei, Dec. 3 (CNA) All five crew members of a fishing vessel that caught fire Saturday were saved after they abandoned ship in waters off Hsinchu County, the Coast Guard Administration (CGA) reported Sunday.

According to a press release from the CGA, the fire was reported at approximately 11:40 p.m. by a member of the public and the CGA immediately dispatched patrol boats and notified the fisheries radio channel.

The Taiwanese captain and his crew of three Indonesians and one Vietnamese aboard the Sheng Feng 188 jumped into the water without life jackets and were pulled from the water by a nearby boat, according to the CGA.

CGA personnel took the fishermen, whose boat was registered in Yong'an Fishing Harbor in Taoyuan City's Xinwu District, to hospital for medical check ups.

An investigation into the cause of the fire was being conducted, according to the CGA.
