Northern Taiwan turns rainy, cooler

Taipei, Nov. 11 (CNA) Rain is expected across Taiwan on Saturday as northeasterly winds and Tropical Storm Haikui bring moisture into the country, the Central Weather Bureau said.

Cool air brought in by northeasterly winds will also send temperatures down in northern Taiwan at the weekend, where daytime highs are expected to drop to 24-26 degrees Celsius, with a low of 20 degrees expected at night, according to forecaster Chen Yi-hsiu (陳伊秀) said.

In central and southern Taiwan, however, daytime highs can reach 28-30 degrees, Chen said.

As another wave of northeasterly winds is expected to arrive over the next few days, the weather will remain cool and wet in northern and northeastern Taiwan until next Wednesday, she added.
