Taipei, Oct. 12 (CNA) A seven-year-old girl, allegedly from Taiwan, died two days ago during a flight from the United Arab Emirates to Germany, despite an emergency landing in Kuwait in a bid to save her life, according to foreign reports.

In a statement provided to Dubai daily Gulf News, Emirates Airlines confirmed that flight EK049, which departed at 8:51 a.m. Oct. 10 from Dubai to Munich, was diverted to Kuwait due to a medical emergency.

"The passenger received immediate medical attention upon landing, but unfortunately was pronounced dead by an emergency doctor on the ground," the carrier said in the statement.

While the statement did not mention the girl's nationality or the cause of her death, German tabloid Bild said she was from Taiwan and suffered from a high fever.

She was flying with her mother, grandmother and siblings, according to the paper.

The girl passed out around 45 minutes after takeoff, and was given first aid by crew members and a doctor on the same flight prior to the emergency landing in Kuwait, the paper said.
