Taipei, Oct. 10 (CNA) People heading to Taitung County for the National Day fireworks display Tuesday evening might need to take rain gear as light rain is expected, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said.

The bureau said there is a 30 percent chance of rain in the area of Taitung Forest Park, where the National Day fireworks will be held 8 p.m. to 8:36 p.m.

However, the weather should be good enough for the show to go on as planned, the CWB said.

The National Day fireworks show, which is being held in the east coast county of Taitung for the first time, is expected to attract some 100,000 visitors, according to the organizing committee.

It will also be attended by President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) and some 500 guests from home and abroad, the organizers said.

The highlights will include a display of 26,833 fireworks and dozens of brightly lit hot air balloons as well as a concert by aboriginal Taiwanese pop singer Samingad, the committee said.

Free shuttle buses will run from Taitung Train Station, Taitung Airport and Taitung Bus Station to the venue and back, the organizers said.

The National Day fireworks show was suspended in 2015 and 2016 to mourn the victims of an explosion at Formosa Fun Coast Water Park in New Taipei and an earthquake in Tainan, respectively.
