Taipei, Oct. 8 (CNA) Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection Chan Shun-kuei (詹順貴) issued a statement Monday announcing his resignation.

Chan posted a statement on his Facebook page in which he indicated he submitted his resignation to the Executive Yuan on Sept. 13, after his superior Lee Ying-yuan (李應元) declined to accept it.

Despite the lack of confirmation, 54 year-old Chan said he remains determined to follow through on his decision to resign.

In the statement, the lawyer-turned governmental official thanked President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) and former Premier Lin Chuan (林全) for supporting him. He also pledged to work for the implementation of energy transformation policies on returning to the private sector.
