Cabinet to undergo partial reshuffle

Taipei, July 12 (CNA) The Cabinet is to carry out a partial reshuffle that will involve at least five ministries, a source familiar with the matter said Thursday.

In the reshuffle, Interior Minister Yeh Jiunn-rong (葉俊榮) will take over the post of education minister, which was left vacant by Wu Maw-kuen (吳茂昆), who resigned May 29, according to the source.

Cabinet spokesman Hsu Kuo-yung (徐國勇) will succeed Yeh as interior minister, with his post to be filled by Democratic Progressive Party Legislator Kolas Yotaka (谷辣斯.尤達卡), the source said.

Taiwan International Ports Corp. Chairman Wu Hong-mo (吳宏謀) will replace Ho Chen Tan (賀陳旦) as minister of transportation and communications, while Investigation Bureau Director-General Tsai Ching-hsiang (蔡清祥) will become minister of justice, replacing Chiu Tai-san (邱太三), who will serve as deputy secretary-general of the Presidential Office, the source said.

Finance Minister Sheu Yu-jer (許虞哲), meanwhile, will leave the Cabinet, with the post to be taken over by his deputy Su Jain-rong (蘇建榮), according to the source.

Premier Lai Ching-te (賴清德) was expected to announce the changes later Thursday.
