Taipei, April 15 (CNA) The government is prepared to respond to any and all eventualities on the Korean Peninsula amid rising tensions there, a Cabinet spokesman said on Saturday.
Replying to questions raised by reporters on the sidelines of an event held in Taipei, Hsu Kuo-yung (徐國勇) said the Cabinet had discussed the latest situation in the region and contingency measures have been put in place to deal with all outcomes.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and other government agencies have detailed measures to be taken in response," he said.
Declining to elaborate, Hsu said that the ministry had issued directives to its representative offices abroad, including in Seoul, to closely observe the developing situation on the Korean Peninsula and take appropriate countermeasures.
