Taiwanese bands nominated for U.S. Independent Music Awards

Taipei, April 12 (CNA) Four Taiwanese bands have been nominated for the 17th Independent Music Awards (IMAs) in the U.S. which will be held June 21-22, according to the event website.

The rock band The Chairman were shortlisted in the album packaging category for its album "The Offering," designed by renowned Taiwanese artist Xiao Qing-yang (蕭青陽).

Xiao was nominated in the best recording package category at the 61st Grammy Awards for the same album last December.

Taiwanese heavy metal band Chthonic were nominated for best Metal/Hardcore award for its album "Battlefields of Asura," along with another Taiwanese Metal band Flesh Juicer for its album "Fairy Tales of Ocean Deep."

Flesh Juicer were also shortlisted for best album packaging and artist publicity photo for the same album.

Meanwhile, Indie rock band Amazing Show were nominated for best Swag (Merchandising) award for its album "King of Light."

Now in its 17th year, the IMAs honors exceptional music, video, concert photography and designs by established and emerging talent.

Winners will be announced on June 22 on stage at Symphony Space in New York City.
