President Tsai promotes domestic animation

Taipei, Jan. 27 (CNA) President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) went online Sunday to promote a locally produced 3D animation film, and she called on people to support domestic animations.

"Winter break has just begun, and Taiwan's animation film 'Tai Chi Cats' is in theaters now," wrote Tsai in a Line post, which was accompanied by a poster showing an animation of Tsai wearing earphones and cat ears holding her pet cat under her right arm.

The president praised "Tai Chi Cats" as an original animation created by a Taiwanese team. It tells the story of how a group of cat-shaped aliens from another planet saved the Earth.

"It's a film for all family members," Tsai wrote, and she urged people to show their support for domestic animation films with action.

In addition to Tsai, Premier Su Tseng-chang (蘇貞昌) showed his support for the made-in-Taiwan animation film by watching it in a Banqiao theater on Saturday.

The 83-minute animation Tai Chi Cats, directed by Kent Chang (張永昌), was produced by New Taipei-based Kent Animation Digital Independent Production, Inc.
