CNA wins two culture reporting prizes at 2018 CCIR Awards

Taipei, July 27 (CNA) Two news entries from CNA have been awarded prizes at the 2018 Cultural and Creative Industry Reporting (CCIR) Awards, according to a Friday press release from the awards' organizer, the Taipei-based Chinese Journalists Association.

The 2018 CCIR Awards honor distinguished reporting on culture in three categories: television, radio, and print and Internet journalism.

Lo Yuan-shao (羅苑韶), Sabine Cheng (鄭景雯), Wang Yi-ru (汪宜儒) and Chiang Pei-ling (江佩凌) won in the category of print and Internet journalism with the fourth and sixth issues of "Culture Plus," a biweekly CNA online column that introduces a variety of culture-related topics on Taiwan.

The fourth issue of Culture Plus explores the cultural phenomenon of Taiwanese people's addiction to communicating with each other through stickers on instant messengers, while the sixth issue covers a series of stories on old buildings in Taiwan, including their historical backgrounds and the cultural meaning of decorating the houses with colorful tiles.

CNA photojournalist Hsieh Chia-chang (謝佳璋) won a prize in the same category with his photographic work about local people participating in a children's art event at a market in Changhua, central Taiwan.

According to the association, the winner of each prize will receive a cash award of NT$10,000 (US$326) and a trophy, which will be presented at an award ceremony that will take place at Taipei's Cheng Kung Senior High School Aug. 4.
