Tainan to host 2020 Asia Pacific Band Festival

Taipei, July 23 (CNA) A Tainan official has been handed the mantle of hosting the 21st Band Festival of the Asian and Pacific Band Directors' Association in 2020, the city's Cultural Affairs Bureau said Monday.

The 20th Band Festival of APBDA was held July 19-22 in Hamamatsu, Japan, with nearly 80 ensembles from 14 Asian and Pacific countries participating, and Yeh Tse-shan (葉澤山), director of Tainan's Cultural Affairs Bureau received the symbolic flag as the next host at the event's closing ceremony.

During the ceremony, Yeh invited all attendees to come to Tainan and join the 21st Band Festival of APBDA.

Tainan will organize board meetings in 2019 to brief member countries on plans for the event. Based on initial estimates, there will be 130 ensembles and more than 10,000 people participating, the Cultural Affairs Bureau said.
