New Delhi, June 29 (CNA) India's National Institute of Technology (NIT) Warangal has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with leading universities in Taiwan to strengthen exchanges of teachers and students and cooperation in academic research.

The MOUs envision mutual exchanges of faculty members, postgraduate and undergraduate students, collaboration on research, and joint academia-industry cooperation, the institute said in a statement released Friday.

Ramana Rao, the director of NIT Warangal, signed the MOU during a visit to Taiwan with the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) from June 19-24.

The Taiwanese schools signing the agreement were National Chung Cheng University, National Chin-Yi University of Technology, National Formosa University and Asia University.

According to a report published by education website Wednesday, Rao said the MOUs between NIT Warangal and the four Taiwanese universities will help build stronger relations between the two countries and offer its students global opportunities.
