Tang Prize founder awarded honorary doctorate by IAACC

Taipei, May 21 (CNA) Samuel Yin (尹衍樑), founder of the Tang Prize and chairman of the Ruentex Financial Group, has been awarded an honorary doctoral degree in leadership management by the International Academic Accreditation and Certification Committee (IAACC), the Tang Prize Foundation said Monday.

In a press release, the foundation said the degree was awarded to honor Yin for his establishment of the Tang Prize, which helps recognize and support contributors for their innovative efforts in science and technology research.

The award ceremony took place in Russia, with IAACC Chairwoman Tatiana K. Sergeeva presenting the certificate to Tang Prize Foundation CEO Chern Jenn-chuan (陳振川), who received it on behalf of Yin, witnessed by Russia International Academy of Engineering (IAE) President Boris Vladimirovich Gusev and Malitikov Efim M., president of the International Association Znanie (meaning knowledge in Russian).

The Tang Prize is a set of biennial international awards bestowed in four fields: sustainable development, biopharmaceutical science, Sinology, and rule of law. Nomination and selection are conducted by an independent selection committee formed in partial cooperation with Academia Sinica, Taiwan's top research institution.
