Taipei, March 8 (CNA) A tree planting ceremony is to be held Monday on the grounds of Chung Shan Park at National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall complex in Taipei to commemorate the 93rd anniversary of the passing of the founding father of the Republic of China (ROC), according to a press release issued by the hall Wednesday.

The event which will also include the planting of plum trees --the plum blossom is the national flower of ROC -- seeks to emphasize the fact that only by protecting the environment will our descendants have a better world in which to live, the statement said.

Taipei Municipal Guangfu Elementary School Chinese Orchestra which was established in 1972 has been invited to perform at the event, it said, adding that the orchestra has won competitions in Taipei and in recent years excelled at national music events.
