Taiwan shines at invention expo in Malaysia

Taipei, Feb. 18 (CNA) A team from Taiwan participating in the Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE), an international invention and innovation contest, has won second place, with four gold, six silver, four bronze, and two special medals, the organizers of the Taiwanese team said Saturday.

Entries from the team stood out from among 500 projects from seven countries during the Feb. 16-18 event, the Taipei-based Chinese Innovation and Invention Society said.

One of the two special awards was for a machine from Biyoung Biotechnology Co., which can filter tap water, making it drinkable, it added.

The other was for a device that can check the quality of edible oil, developed jointly by students from both the Taipei American School and the Taipei Fuhsing Private School.
