Taipei, Sept. 14 (CNA) AU Optronics Corp. (AUO) and Innlux Corp., the two largest flat panel makers in Taiwan, have been listed on the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI-World).

In a statement released on Friday, AUO said it was the ninth consecutive year for the company to become a constituent of the DJSI-World, which showed its efforts in corporate governance and green industrial innovations have been recognized worldwide.

Since 2010, AUO has joined the assessments by the DJSI, and this year, the company ranked among the top six firms in the ITC Electronic Equipment, Instruments & Components category of the index, being chosen from a total of 52 companies worldwide competing to be selected in this category.

AUO said the company scored high in climate strategy, risk and crisis management, and supply chain management in the assessment.

AUO added the company's inclusion into the DJSI-World was also a recognition of its achievements in upgrading its technology and differentiating its products from its rivals', which strengthened the company's ability in innovations.

In a separate statement, Innolux, the flat panel manufacturing subsidiary of the world's largest contract electronics maker Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., said the company obtained high scores in the index's ITC Electronic Equipment, Instruments & Components category.

In addition to the DJSI-World, Innolux said, the company was listed on the DJSI Emerging Markets Index for the first time, which was a recognition of its efforts to fulfill its social responsibility as a corporation.

Innolux said the company has committed itself to green and low-carbon industrial development, and paid close attention to circular economy, tilting toward a balance between economic development and environmental protection.

DJSI-World, first jointly published in September 1999 by RobecoSam and S&P Dow Jones, chooses its constituents from about 2,500 large companies in the Dow Jones Global Total Stock Market Index (DJGTSMI). The index covers the top 10 percent of these companies based on three critical factors: economic, environmental, and social criteria, to trace the constituents' records in social responsibility.
