Taipei, June 12 (CNA) President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) encouraged foreign investors Tuesday to invest in Taiwanese securities, saying that the country's economy is now in the best condition in two decades.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the 31st annual meeting of the International Council of Securities Association (ICSA), Tsai said that Taiwan's economic performance has improved remarkably in recent years, with the stock market flourishing, the unemployment rate declining and salaries increasing in a stable manner.

Meanwhile, the government has been dedicating itself to further strengthening the country's capital market competitiveness and promoting the upgrading of its industries, she added.

The global capital market has entered a new era featuring a rapid development of new technologies, such as artificial intelligence, blockchains, Internet of Things and cloud computing, while countries around the world are promoting capital flow, Tsai noted.

The president said her administration welcomes foreign brokerages to set up branches in Taiwan or help industries in their respective nations to raise funds in Taiwan.

The ICSA meeting opened in Taipei June 10 with the participation of representatives from 18 countries. The discussions were centered on the main topic of "challenges and opportunities in the new era."
