Taipei, Dec. 7 (CNA) A Korean woman won a one-year unlimited ticket for travel on Tigerair Taiwan on Thursday after she became the budget carrier's 4 millionth passenger.

Song Mi-Hyang, who took Flight IT607 from Busan to Taiwan with seven family members, said she was surprised and excited to win the ticket.

Song said she plans to use the ticket to visit Taiwan frequently next year and enjoy local gourmet food.

Busan is one of the three Korean destinations that the low-cost carrier flies to and from Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, the other two being Daegu and Jeju.

Now in its third year of operation in Taiwan, Tigerair Taiwan currently operates on 19 routes to 14 cities in Asia.

It holds a 20 percent share of the local budget airline market, the highest among the 20 low-cost carriers serving Taiwan, according to the Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA).

On Dec. 18, Tigerair Taiwan will launch a new service, between Kaohsiung in southern Taiwan and Fukuoka in Japan.

Starting Jan. 18 next year, the airline will also be offering direct flights between Taoyuan and Komatsu, its 13th destination in Japan.
