Taipei, Aug. 3 (CNA) Taiwan's Hsieh Su-wei (謝淑薇) saw her singles run at the 2019 Citi Open end Friday after falling to Catherine Mcnally of the U.S. in the quarterfinals in Washington, D.C.

Mcnally, who is World No. 150 on the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) singles ranking, outlasted fourth-seeded Hsieh 6-4, 6-3 in a two-set match that lasted 1 hour and 23 minutes

The Taiwanese reached the quarterfinals by defeating Russian qualifier Varvara Gracheva 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 in a marathon three-setter late Thursday night that took 2 hours 39 minutes to complete.

Hsieh, who had been the only seed remaining in the wide-open women's draw, was no match for the young 17-year-old American, who has so far seen an impeccable run in the singles since the tournament begun last Saturday.

The Citi Open is part of the ATP World Tour 500 that will run until Sunday.
