Taiwan badminton duo advance to Thailand Masters doubles final

Taipei, Jan. 12 (CNA) Taiwan badminton duo Lu Ching-yao (盧敬堯) and Yang Po-han (楊博涵) defeated their Malaysian semi-final opponents to advance to the men's doubles final at the Thailand Masters 2019 on Saturday.

Lu and Yang, currently ranked 26th in the world, beat Malaysians Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin 17-21, 21-13, 21-11 in a match that lasted 57 minutes.

Prior to Saturday's game, the two teams had met six times before, with the Taiwanese victorious in five of those matches.

Lu and Yang will face another Malaysian pairing, Goh Shem and Tan Wee Kiong, in the final on Sunday.

The Thailand Masters is a HSBC World Tour Super 300 tournament and one of two HSBC BWF World Tour tournaments held in Thailand annually, the other being the Thailand Open, a HSBC BWF World Tour Super 500 tournament.

The tournament, which concludes Sunday, has total prize money of US$150,000.
