Taipei, Jan. 5 (CNA) Taiwanese sisters Latisha Chan (詹詠然) and Chan Hao-ching (詹皓晴) had to settle for second place in the women's tennis doubles at the Brisbane International after they were defeated in the final Saturday.

In the match, the Chan sisters lost to Nicole Melichar of the United States and Kveta Peschke of the Czech Republic 1-6, 1-6.

The Taiwanese pair did not hold a single game in the first set and failed to turn the tide in the second, which left them with a silver medal in the women's doubles.

The tournament saw the Chan sisters pairing up for the first time in nine months.

Last year Latisha paired with Peschke to form the top-seeded duo at the San Jose women's tennis tournament at which they won the women's doubles title.
