Taiwanese player reaches badminton men's singles final at Korea Open

Taipei, Sept. 29 (CNA) Taiwanese badminton player Chou Tien-chen (周天成) advanced to the men's singles final at the Korea Open after defeating Kenta Nishimoto of Japan 19-21, 21-18, 21-14 in the semifinals Saturday.

World No. 4 Chou managed to come back from a 0-1 deficit to beat the Japanese in the last two games of the match that lasted 81 minutes.

Prior to Saturday's victory, Chou defeated Nishimoto twice in their two previous encounters. Nishimoto is currently ranked 10th in the world.

Chou will face world No. 8 Tommy Sugiarto of Indonesia in the finals on Sunday.

The Korea Open, which has a purse of US$600,000, is a Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Tour Super 500 tournament, and is being held at the SK Handball Stadium in Seoul until Sept. 30.
