Asian Games: Taiwan takes bronze medals in kurash, cycling

Taipei, Aug. 30 (CNA) Taiwan won bronze medals in the women's kurash and track cycling events at the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games Thursday.

Yang Hsien-tzu (楊憲慈) took bronze in the women's under-78 kilogram division, after losing to Kumush Yuldashova of Uzbekistan 0-10 in the semifinals that day.

Yang, who first attracted attention at the 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games held in Turkmenistan, won gold in the women's under-70kg division last year.

In the track cycling event, Huang Ting-ying (黃亭茵) took the second bronze for Taiwan in the women's 3000-meter individual pursuit finals, with a time of 3:45.449.

Huang, a veteran cyclist, won golds in the 3km individual pursuit and the points race at the Asian Track Cycling Championships, held in Japan in 2016.

As of press time, Taiwan was 7th in the medals table with 14 golds, 17 silvers and 24 bronzes since the games started on Aug. 18.
