Taipei, May 24 (CNA) Taiwanese markswoman Lin Yin-shin (林穎欣) won a gold medal in the women's 10-meter air rifle event at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup Rifle/Pistol in Germany on Thursday, a first for Taiwan at the world cup.

Lin finished with a total of 250.3 points, beating seven other competitors in the final elimination round, including Wu Mingyang of China and Rikke Maeng Ibsen of Denmark, who received the silver and bronze medals.

This was Lin's latest success following her gold medal in the 10m air rifle category at this year's National Intercollegiate Athletic Games in Taiwan, held in late April through early May, according to Chinese Taipei Shooting Association (CTSA) President Steven Chen (陳士魁).

Lin is currently a freshman at National Taiwan Normal University, and is qualified for the Asia Games in Jakarta later this year, Chen said.

The gold medal marked a first for Taiwan in the 10m air rifle category of the ISSF World Cup.

In March, Lin also won silver in the final of the 10m air rifle women's junior event at the ISSF Junior World Cup Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun competition in Sydney, Australia.

"I'm super happy. I've been practicing shooting since high school, but I never knew I could achieve so much," Lin said after the event on Thursday.

The ISSF world cup in Munich is being held until May 29.
