Taiwan's Hsieh advances to women's doubles final at Indian Wells

Taipei, March 16 (CNA) Tennis player Hsieh Su-wei (謝淑薇), the last Taiwanese standing in the Indian Wells Masters, went through to the final of the women's doubles competition with her Czech partner Barbora Strycova on Thursday in California.

Hsieh and Strycova beat third seeds Gabriela Dabrowski of Canada and Xu Yifan (徐一幡) of China in a semi-final match that lasted 75 minutes.

The first set was particularly intense, as the two teams played hard to 6-6 tie after 12 games.

Going into a tiebreaker, Hsieh and Strycova scored five consecutive points after a 1-1 start, and easily took the game 7-2 and the set 7-6 (2).

In the second set, the Hsieh and Strycove doubled their efforts to win 6-3.

The duo is now scheduled to play against the first seeded Russian pair of Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina on Saturday.
