Taipei, Feb. 22 (CNA) Taiwan's Latisha Chan (詹詠然) and her Czech partner Andrea Hlavackova suffered a defeat in the hands of their rivals and thus missed the chance to face Chan's sister Chan Hao-ching (詹皓晴) and her Chinese partner Yang Zhaoxuan (楊釗煊) in the semifinals of the 2018 Dubai Duty Free Championships on Thursday.

Latisha Chan and Hlavackova started the game on a strong footing, defeating their opponents Alicja Rosolska of Poland and Abigail Spears of the United States 6-1 in the first set.

But the Rosolska-Spears duo quickly gained their pace, finishing off the back-and-forth rally to end the second set with 7-6 (5) tiebreak.

The third set again resulted in a tiebreak, which was eventually won by Rosolska and Spears 10-8, who finished off 2-1 in the quarterfinal match.
