Taiwanese badminton duo advances to final in Jeunesse Cup

Taipei, Sept. 30 (CNA) Taiwanese badminton duo Tai Tzu-ying (戴資穎) and Wang Tzu-wei (王子維) advanced to the mixed doubles final in the first Jeunesse Cup International All-Star Tournament on Saturday.

Tai, who ranks as world No. 1 in women's badminton, and Wang, who ranks world No. 10 in men's badminton, defeated their Chinese rivals Wang Lin (王琳) and Chen Hong (陳宏) 21-9, 21-14 in the match, which was held in the gymnasium of the Univeristy of Taipei's Tianmu Campus.

The Taiwanese duo will face Denmark's Mads Conrad-Petersen and Line Kjærsfeldt in the gold medal match on Sunday.

The first Jeunesse Cup International All-Star Tournament, sponsored by global skin care company Jeunesse, invited four pairs of badminton players from Taiwan, China, Denmark and Malaysia to compete in mixed doubles matches in Taipei.

Representing Malaysia were Tan Boon Heong and his partner Chin Kah Mun.

The total purse for the event is US$30,000.
