Taipei, April 23 (CNA) Taiwanese badminton players Chen Hung-ling (陳宏麟) and Wang Chi-lin (王齊麟) beat a Japanese team 21-14, 21-6 on Sunday to win their first Grand Prix Gold title since they began playing doubles together in 2014.

The first-seeded duo needed only 30 minutes to subdue Takuto Inoue and Yuki Kaneko in the men's doubles final of the tournament being played in Changzhou, China.

The win was the best showing ever for Chen and Wang, who had never won a title in an international tournament. Entering this week's event, the duo were ranked 13th in the world in men's doubles.

Chen and Wang have been building up ranking points in Grand Prix Gold events, which are one rung below the highest caliber Superseries tournaments, but have yet to score a breakthrough in a Superseries event.
