Taiwanese badminton player into Yonex Swiss Open semifinals

Taipei, March 18 (CNA) Taiwan badminton player Wang Tzu-wei (王子維) beat his rival in the men's singles quaterfinals at the Yonex Swiss Open 2017 Friday to enter the semifinals of the tournament.

Wang came from behind to beat Kanta Tsuneyama of Japan 14-21, 21-16, 21-17.

He will next face Shi Yuqi (石宇奇) of China, who was beaten by Lee Chong Wei (李宗偉) of Malaysia in the final of the men's singles at the Yonex All England Open Badminton Championships last week.

In the men's doubles, Taiwan's Chen Hung-ling (陳宏麟) and Wang Chi-lin (王齊麟) beat Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen of Denmark 24-22, 21-10 to enter the semifinals.

The duo will next meet Chai Biao (柴飈) and Hong Wei (洪煒) of China.

The US$120,000 Grand Prix Badminton tournament began in Basel March 14 and will run through March 19.
